Ionie is a qualified Integrative Counsellor with a Certificate in Advocacy, and is a qualified trainer. Ionie has over 20years voluntary and paid experience in helping families through difficult times and has represented hundreds of families in their dealing with diverse authorities.

It was Ionie's experience as a young mother, now some years ago, that culminated in the formation of TIPS. Help and information was not so readily available then; but now, with the advent of the internet, there is a different problem of finding what is useful and genuine among the vast amount of information out there. Sometimes it is difficult to know what question to actually ask!

Not all families have an equal ability to question or confront authority or know the most effective means of doing so in the best interest of their children. It can be a daunting experience and promote anger and frustration - often at the most inappropriate time. Families can feel "Judged" and "Accused" and present as resentful or hostile to schools and authorities - when this is simply not their intention - but a reaction to the process.

Ionie's personal experience, and latter trainings, enabled her  to bridge that gap - so that well-intentioned families can connect with well-intentioned authorities and that the processes can be understood.

Primarily, this is about facilitating good communication.
